Good news for Lampard as injured Chelsea star joins up with the national team

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has joined up with the team-mates for the United States squad ahead of their games against Wales and Panama, giving Chelsea fans a big sigh of relief.

Pulisic has been struggling injuries lately and after missing almost two months football since last season played back to back three games this term. But the USMNT star once again got injured during the pre-match warmup against Burnley.

At first, Lampard claimed that injury to be minor and the 22-year-old apparently attempted to train before the Champions League win over Rennes. However, the player lacked fitness and withdrew from the session at Cobham early.

He did not train in the second half of last week missing three games on a trot and Frank Lampard later indicated that there is some concern over the former Borussia Dortmund player suffering from recurring muscular injuries.

But the 22-year-old winger now has joined the 24-man US squad for the upcoming International games to Lampard’s comfort. It remains unclear if Pulisic will be cleared fit to face them at the beginning of next week. But the US coach has suggested that the player has been raring to go and his fitness is improving ‘day by day’.

“Christian is in camp and is listed as day-to-day,” Berhalter told Fox Sports.

“It really says a lot about Christian that he wasn’t playing for Chelsea but he wanted to come into this camp and be around the team and his status is day to day.”

The USMNT will face Wales on 12 November in Cardiff and three days later they will be up against Panama in Austria. This will be the first exhibition games of the year for the US national side. Matches listed earlier in the year were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and the travel ban taxed in several nations.
