GOOD NEWS: Lampard speaks on Sancho and Coutinho deal ahead of possible summer move

Frank Lampard says he is ‘excited’ by his current Chelsea squad but wants to bring in a ‘few new additions’ this summer.

Due to the transfer ban, Chelsea were unable to sign any players last summer and failed to bolster Lampard’s squad in January despite having the restrictions lifted shortly before the window opened.

However, Chelsea will welcome Morocco international Hakim Ziyech to Stamford Bridge this summer after agreeing a £33m deal with Ajax in February, but Lampard has suggested the club’s transfer activity will not stop there despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Speaking to the Chelsea magazine, Lampard said: ‘I’m certainly excited about the squad we’ve got, with the young players and if we can get a few additions for areas I feel we need.

‘We didn’t bring in anyone in January, it didn’t work out to be right for us at the time, and last summer we couldn’t bring anyone in, so those windows are gone and we haven’t changed. ‘So I am excited about the squad we’ve got, if we can freshen up in the right areas we all know that.’

Chelsea have been linked with moves for England ace Jadon Sancho, former Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho and Bundesliga star Kai Havertz and Lampard says he’s keen to bring in one of them in summer.
