REVEALED: Why Frank Lampard has been named as Chelsea’s greatest player

Frank Lampard has been named as Chelsea’s greatest player by Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.

Explaining his reason, Cundy told talkSPORT: “There was a period of about two to three years where Frank was maybe the best goalscoring midfielder in the world.

“It was phenomenal. For five straight seasons between 2005-2010, he was getting at least 20 goals from midfield.

“He’s Chelsea’s leading goalscorer which from midfield is remarkable. Frank hardly ever got injured I think. His relationship with Didier was absolutely key too. They linked up so many times on the pitch.

“He’s Chelsea’s greatest ever player. He was there for a long time and continually improved. People forget he was Chelsea’s captain during the finals of their European cup final wins – the Champions League in 2012 and Europa League in 2013. So he was also another leader in there.”

Lampard made 648 appearances for the club, scored 211 goals, registered 151 assists and helped the team win 13 trophies, including 3 Premier League titles and a Champions League.
