According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is open to joining Chelsea only if Liverpool give up in their attempts to sign him.

Liverpool are reportedly leading the chase for the striker but according to reports, they are unwilling to pay the 24-year-old’s £49million release clause, currently valuing the player at £30m.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants Werner at Stamford Bridge next season because he believes the striker will strengthen Chelsea’s attack.

Werner has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season and remains under contract at Leipzig until June 2023.
