“I will stop starting him” – Tuchel finally reveals why he won’t start Lukaku in the Premier League

Lukaku suffered an ankle injury in Chelsea’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Malmo in October and made his injury comeback as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United in late November.

However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel insists Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku isn’t ready to start a game in the Premier League.

Explaining why Lukaku isn’t ready to start a Premier League game, Tuchel said: “There’s such a high intensity in the matches.

“I know Romelu is pushing, that’s the nature of the beast. But there’s a big difference between being ready to train and being competitive. And then there’s being ready for the Premier League.

“We have to build up slowly. And he has to be patient.”
