‘I wish he starts him’ – Jamie Carragher reveals the Chelsea player Tuchel should have start against Liverpool

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel went for first choice keeper Edouard Mendy even though Kepa had been in goal all through the cup, and the Senegal international was brilliant all game.

However, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher admitted Chelsea second choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga should have started in goal in the Carabao Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool.

Mendy blew minds when he made a double save from Naby Keita and Sadio Mane, and Carragher was left hoping Kepa was the one in goal.

Asked for his reaction at half-time, Carragher, who won this competition three times as a player for Liverpool, said: “I wish Kepa was in goal. My God what a save this is.

“We talk about the two great chances Chelsea had where they should score but this is the biggest chance. It’s a really good initial save from the goalkeeper to get up as quick as he does.

“Mane should score but you have to give credit to the goalkeeper. How quick he is up the floor. It has to be a goal, absolutely fantastic.”
