‘I’m a big supporter of it! Tuchel finally reveals why he make five substitutions in Brentford game

Following Chelsea’ 2-0 victory over Brentford, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed why he’s a huge supporter of five substitutions, and has always made his voice heard that the Premier League should join other leagues in approving the five substitution rule that has been utilised since the start of the Covid-19 era.

Having named three youngsters in the starting lineup for their debut, Tuchel also handed a starting role to Mateo Kovacic who had only just returned from injury.

He then decided to bring on N’Golo Kante in the second half, as all of his second half changes weren’t only tactical but timely as well.

Tuchel said after the game that he used them rest his players and also hand valuable minutes to some: “We knew we could have five big changes with a lot of quality, and also fresh legs because they were not overused.”

“That helped us a lot and was needed. I’m a big supporter of five changes.”
