Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is in favor of Chelsea’s move to try to acquire Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Barcelona striker.
Aubameyang joined Barcelona from Arsenal in January and scored 13 goals in 24 games. Thomas Tuchel appears to want to use him to address the club’s striker shortage.
Aubameyang is travelling to London this afternoon in order to complete his medical and put pen to paper on his new contract with Chelsea – which will be worth close to the £300,000-a-week mark
Barring any late hiccups, the Gabon striker will become Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer following Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, Marc Cucurella and Cesare Casadei.
And after hearing the news that Chelsea are all about to sign the Gabon star – Hasselbaink has opened up and had his say about the imminent arrival to Stamford Bridge
Asked about Chelsea’s deadline-day swoop for Aubameyang, former Blues striker Hasselbaink told Sky Sports: ‘He’s someone who will bring goals and we know he can handle the pressure.
‘He’s played for big clubs: Arsenal, Barcelona, Dortmund. Chelsea need a number nine, an out and out number nine, and that is what he is.
‘I think if you can sign him for the next couple of years, it’s a great signing. A great signing.’
