New signing to score 20-goals a season after Chelsea agreed mammoth £128M deal

Raheem Sterling scoring 20 league goals for Chelsea, according to Noel Whelan, “wouldn’t surprise” him.

Despite fighting to maintain his spot in Man City’s lineup last season, Sterling scored 17 goals and provided nine assists across all competitions; yet, the team has decided to let him leave.

Sterling is expected to cost Chelsea £50 million, and in exchange, the player has agreed to a huge five-year contract worth £300,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.

And ahead of his arrival to the club – Whelan has come out and claimed that he would not be surprised to see Sterling score 20-goals a season with the Blues – Whelan Said: “His goalscoring and assists have been invaluable for Man City during his time there. It’s had a big hand in them being so dominant over the years.

“He’s still got so much to offer, and it wouldn’t surprise me [to see him score 20 goals].

“He’ll fit right in at Chelsea because there are plenty of internationals surrounding him, just as there were at Man City.

“I think he’ll definitely be successful. He’s someone who will be very exciting for the Chelsea fans to watch – and I’m expecting him to make an impact immediately.”
