According to Fabrizio Romano, RB Salzburg has announced that sporting director Christoph Freund would stay on staff this summer despite Chelsea’s interest. Owner Todd Boehly has angered Blues supporters by failing to fill Marina Granovskaia’s former position as club’s sporting director.
The west London team and the Austrian executive came to an agreement last weekend, according to the transfer specialist. However, Freund is expected to stay at the Red Bull team, leaving Chelsea’s position as sporting director empty.
However, Freund will stay at the club and won’t join the west London team, according to an official tweet from RB Salzburg. It said:
“Christoph #Freund is and remains sports director. The extensive media and public speculation of the last few days has prompted us to make the following statement: Christoph is and remains sporting director of FC Red Bull Salzburg, there is no move to Chelsea!”
Now, Chelsea fans are clearly frustrated and disappointed at Boehly’s failed attempts to appoint a sporting director. Blues fans are worried about the club’s future and took to Twitter to express their disappointment.
