Todd Boehly reveals ‘frustration’ with Marina Granovskaia for failing to sign €80m player for Chelsea in 2021

Todd Boehly reportedly found it difficult to comprehend why Chelsea turned on the chance to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni back in 2021, as reported by the Spanish newspaper Diario Sport (via Football Espana).

The Blues were informed they could buy the Frenchman for €35 million, but they opted not to do so because they didn’t think he would be competitive enough in the Premier League.

However, Marina Granovskaia, who was in charge of transfers at that time, preferred landing Saul on a loan deal. As we know, the Spaniard did not impress last season and returned to Atletico.

A year later, Tchouameni would join Real Madrid on an €80m fee. He’s quickly broken into the Whites’ starting lineup and is one of their best players at the moment, with two assists in 9 games.
