The new Premier League rivals ready to snatch Ross Barkley from Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has been with the club since January 2018, but injury hasn’t allowed the 26-year-old perform at his best for the Blues.

However, Barkley was picking up form before the league was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And now, the Chelsea midfielder is believed to be attracting massive interest from Newcastle. The Magpies are on the brink of a £300m-takeover led by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, and Newcastle will be massively backed by the new owners in the summer transfer window.

Ross Barkley is believed to be a top target for Newcastle, with manager Rafa Benitez believed to be targeted by the would be owners.

Barkley has had limited playing opportunities under Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, but it seems current Blues boss Frank Lampard tends to favour the former Everton star and believes he can get back to his Everton form.

“All our midfield players have been out at times, but Ross had probably longer out, with a niggly injury which hung around for six weeks,” said Lampard. “In the early part of the season when Ross wasn’t getting in, he can look at himself and say he could have been doing better probably.

“Ross has taken that on in the most positive way possible. He has worked hard, and he’s got his nose in the team. “He does need confidence as a player, I believe that, so to try and play him and give him minutes is always going to help with the confidence.”
