What Chelsea players told me after Tuchel’s sacking – Graham Potter finally reveals

After Chelsea’s Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb on September 7, Thomas Tuchel was fired.

The day after Tuchel was fired, Graham Potter was named manager of Chelsea.

Chelsea made a dismal start to the year and were even last in their Champions League group.

However, the team is starting to gather momentum under new boss Graham Potter, and the Chelsea team tool performances to another level, with a 3-0 victory over AC Milan.

Blues boss Graham Potter has revealed that the Chelsea players were honest that their performance hadn’t been good enough in previous weeks.

He said: “They knew the level had dropped a bit and when you do that at this level you can be punished.

“This performance was a credit to the players and my job is just to remind them that they can play at the level they did today.

“The boys have been really open, responsible, honest, they’ve been fantastic to work with. They know they can do better, which is great from a coach’s perspective.”

Speaking after the win over AC Milan, Graham Potter said of the Chelsea players: “I thought the attitude and application of the players was fantastic. It was a really important win for us.”

He added: “Overall, I can’t complain with a clean sheet, three goals and great personality from the players, so it was really good.”
